Life's a Garden..Dig it!

« on: October 10, 2011, 03:57:05 PM »

Pretty fuckin' nice if I do say so myself... Unlike the Scorpion it has no deburr marks or sanding rolls smoothing it out.. been sprayed with NuCast I believe but other than that it's in excellent shape..
Sorry in advance for those that can't view without hosting here.. I haven't figured out yet what the site wants in order to let me host here..

Nice,Tater..lol!

I'm one of those few lucky SOB's that has a Really Old, Ford Based,Speed Shop within 20 minutes of the house...
The Owner is getting into his 70's and he's not real up to speed with modulars.. They have a customer from time to time come in with a newer 4.6 car or two and they sublet the work out to me.

Where the two intakes came about recently were from a deal He and I struck over a 00' Lightning he bought that needed repair..

Trust me Dudes.. He knows what he has.. He pulled the "SD" off the shelf and it had a price of $400.00 on it..

He's sitting on plenty of stuff but the Cleveland junk is dwindling it seems..

Thank you Joe,

Yeah if it was ever used it wasn't used long... some of the paint skinned off the bottom of the intake and it looked like clean aluminum under it, no oil staining.. you know?

Back in the early 1990's in the  Car Craft monthly rag a Speed Shop called Lopers if I remember right used to advertise the Holley 351C 4V Strip Dominator intakes for $159 plus shipping......lol
That's where mine came from. Back then $159 was alot of cash to me!!
I wish I could've ordered their whole stock of them!
Just me babblin'

"Loper's" sounds familiar... I had a handful of these books from when I was in high school..

Derailing my thread here: You know.. my brother and I would swap and trade magazines on and off.. I would have the latest HOTROD and he would give me and older one that I may have missed out on..  You know, reading that magazine from the very late eighties to the very early ninties must've been painful as hell! Jesus the articles sucked.. pictures were horrible, of the handful of isuues I got from that time frame.. that magazine should have went away..

I bought my Strip Dominator brand new in the mid 80's. I am one those stupid people who save every receipt on my car stuff. Without going through the whole folder i think it was around $170.00 with tax and at the time that was a alot to pay for an intake manifold. No used ones then. Of course years later I passed on a good used Strip Dominator for $50.00 because I thought Gee, I don't need two. Stupid! Brian

I am going off of the frenzy that it seems to create when you mention finding one in the Cleveland world...

But now after having my hands on one personally,  the intake has a cat in place valley pan/airgap style intake.. which is a major plus, and the runners "appear" to be bigger and more consistent from plenum to intake opening.. plenum sits pretty tall.. def. can't go wrong with it..
