Well the transmissions that i was looking at are what i want however money is always the issue. So I was thinking about going with a rebuild of the one I have maybe having a transbrake added to it, with a torque converter and the works. The trans seems to be in good sound condition with no structural damage but definetly needs some work to handle the power plant. So the question for advice is, is it worth it for me to do so to last for the car, or is it just better to hold off and save money over a period of time to get a new one that is designed specifically for my needs. I have heard and researched that that you can build it to be just as good, but im torn between the needs of today or the needs over time for tommorow. Any advice would be grateful, thanks to all on TNR.

Hey Ben I think either way is ok. I do know this..Whatever you do make sure it counts..the transmission will either make your car run quicker or alot slower. SO i guess basically make sure its done right the first time. Smiley

Yea I just hope that I might be able to get what I want. But I know that I do not wanna go to any other trans like the c5 or standard. I know that I have seen alot more people going to the c5, powerglide, turbo 350 conversion. Through my research and what I have seen the C4 is a strong and bad ass little tranny. I personally like having a 3 speed for the retro style of it. I believe that a good strong rebuild with damn good internals and proper installation I think the little bastard will come to life. I personally am looking for longevity, and definetley reliability.

Funny you mention C-5..C-5 and C-4 is same thing actually AND C-5 is a little stronger. Also what is wierd and true when i had my transmission fixed last time he let me know mine was a C-5. I still call it C-4 just because alot of peeps dont know what a C-5 is and its basically samething. Grin so its easier then saying C-5..even though i forget about it being a C-5 most of the time.
