I have a 92 vert and the tach is always on 4k

I can rev it to the point and it will go past 4k but always goes back
Since it is auto I think I only managed to get tach to go past 4k like twice
I have no cel on and wondered what is causing this

Is there a cam sensor on these cars?

Almost sounds like a mechanical problem with the tach.

Really.  Cause wouldn't the tach go crazy once power is applied via key?

Once I start it that's when tach sweeps to 4k. And just sits there unless I rev
Past it.  Can I check for codes like we do the v8's?

Dumb question, could it be a V8 tach or dash cluster?

I bought a 4banger 2 months ago to turn into a drag car. For the time being I've been driving it around to save on gas. Mine does the exact same thing only it's at 3k instead of 4. It will rev past 3k just like yours but at idle it goes right back to 3k lol

I just went out and double checked. It is in fact 3k not 4k.  My mistake.
Being mine is a vert I was gonna turn it into. A turbo 4 banger

Get a cheap ebay turbo and you are good to go.  Jim Mitchel would be the guy to help you out.  We had a long chat about that and turbo selection on the cheap.  Also remember the T5 for 4 cyl and 8 cylinder have  different pilot bearing size on the input shaft.  Therefore you need to be carefull on input bearing match ups.

The 2.3 has the A4LD o/d trans and the V-8 has the AOD trans...they will not interchange.
