My friend just put new Schimidt engine in his Monte Carlo and changed over to 315 drag radials ( 1970 monte setup for drag week competition).
Changed from iron block to aluminum, 540 ci with twin turbos.
Car went new best time on 2nd pass (before rain) 7:98 at 181, his 1st chance to run 1/4 mile with new setup.
He stated that with the taller tires and new engine that it was trying to blow thru the converter and that he wasn't bringing boost in until the 2.5 seconds into the run.

Not bad for a 4100+ lb sled!

Will he be running Drag Week this year?

If so, I plan to be at Great Bend to watch, if not Tulsa too. I'll keep an eye out for him

Just starting to try and get the car dialed in with changes and then he's going to work on drivability with trailer hooked up.
Triple black Montecarlo with cowl hood.
old pictures from initial construction, I' ll try to get photos that are current.

I thought that may have been Steve Fagan  of Wichita in the right lane but they finally announced the driver's name after the run.
He's there somewhere.

I have another friend there with a LSX S-10. I'm sure it isn't running low 5's in the 1/8 though. Maybe wrong cam?
